Dear Oak Orchard Families,
I am so excited to welcome you to a new school year at Oak Orchard Primary School! This year, our theme is "Bring the Wonder," and I cannot imagine a more fitting focus for the joyful learning and discovery that happens in our classrooms each day.
As a proud Medina alum, it is truly an honor to return home and serve the community that shaped me. I bring with me 25 years of experience in education, including 18 years as a teacher and the past 7 years as an administrator in the Lockport City School District. Those years have strengthened my belief that the earliest years of school are the most important for laying the foundation for lifelong learning. I am grateful for the opportunity to bring that experience back to Medina and to lead the work of nurturing, inspiring and guiding the children of our community.
At Oak Orchard, we believe in nurturing curiosity, sparking a love of learning, and building a strong foundation that will last a lifetime. Our commitment is to provide an engaging, hands-on, and inquiry based learning environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow. Just as importantly, we value the development of empathy, character, and kindness so that our students also become caring and thoughtful citizens.
I am especially excited that this year we will be re-launching our PTSA, and I would love for you to partner with us in strengthening the connection between school and home. Together, we can create even more opportunities for our children to thrive and feel supported by a community that cares deeply about their growth and success.
As we begin this year's journey, I look forward to working alongside each of you to make a lasting difference in the lives of our children and to truly bring the wonder to Oak Orchard.
With gratitude and excitement,
Julie Schiavone
